CODECA's founding members have extensive expertise in the field of social policy and welfare at local,regional and European level. The group has been strengthened by talented people who offer to the organisation unique experience and expertise. Each person contributes with their uniqueness and has the skills and knowledge to respond to the Agency's mission.

AGAMEMNONAS ZACHARIADES

Director

Mr. AGAMEMNONAS ZACHARIADES (Director) is an adjunct faculty member in the Social Work Programme at the University of Nicosia, Cyprus.  He holds a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Nicosia. Currently he is a PhD candidate at the Department of Social Sciences at the University of Nicosia. He has extensive research as well as professional experience in the areas of social policy, migration, social cohesion of socially excluded groups, social welfare and management. His research interests lie in the provision of social services, in social policy planning and social work education. In this respect he has participated in various research projects at a local and European level. Currently he is involved in projects related to migration, education, social Inclusion and social orientation. He has also published journal papers and a book chapter in the above subjects.

Dr. DESPOINA COCHLIOU

Director

Dr. DESPINA COCHLIOU (Director) is a lecturer of Social Work in the corresponding Programme at the University of Nicosia since October 2006. Her research interests lie in the administration and organisation of social services and more concretely in the participation of social workers in the decision-making. She is also interested in the use of Management Information Systems in social services and their repercussions in the practice of Social Work but also for service users. Moreover, she is interested in qualitative research in the field of Social Work. As an educator she has worked systematically in career guidance and skills development of higher education students in order to engage students and graduates in their own personal and professional development. She is also working towards engaging students in the decision-making process so that they can choose a career path that is well suited to their interests, values, abilities, and personality style. She has being actively involved on a co-funded project (at a national level) for Combating occupational gender segregation. Yet, she has participated in several research programmes funded by national and EU funds. She has also published in journal papers and book chapters in the above subjects. As part of her current role, she continues to work with agencies to provide assistance in delivering new and innovative pilot projects, training in areas as supervision, counselling, social inclusion and management, and to carry out research and evaluation projects.

Dr. STEFANOS SPANEAS

Director- Secretary General

Dr. STEFANOS SPANEAS (Director, Secretary General), is an Associate Professor of Social Work at the University of Nicosia and coordinator of Social Work Programme. He has over of seventieth years of experience in the area of social work either as practitioner and/or as academic. He has worked in several areas in the management and delivery of social and welfare services, social justice, social inclusion, equality, research and policy development. He has participated in and also coordinated several research programmes funded by national and EU funds, for children, families and adults, as well as minorities. Currently he is involved in projects related to Migration, Education, Social Inclusion and Social entrepreneurship. He has also published in journal papers and book chapters and presented in national, European and international conferences on related issues. He also continues to work with agencies to provide assistance in delivering new and innovative pilot projects, training in such areas as communication, management and evaluation, and to carry out research and evaluation projects.

KATERINA PAPAEFTYCHIOU

Project Manager

KATERINA PAPAEFTYCHIOU holds a BA in Social Work from the University of Nicosia. She is currently a full-time member of the scientific team of the CODECA, working on management of various European and local projects. Mrs Papaeftychiou’s researcher interest lies in social policy, migration and community development. She has also been involved in other European projects implemented by local authorities, including individual and group counselling, managerial and administrative duties and social and cultural events organising.
